Photo Story - By Arushi Yeotikar

My series explores the emotional weight of societal beauty standards and the collective struggle for self-acceptance. Like many women, I grew up believing that fair skin, straight hair, and flawless features were the only paths to confidence. Salon visits, painful waxing sessions, and constant exposure to idealized beauty ads became a ritual of trying to "fix" ourselves. These routines, though normalized, often feel like silent acts of self-erasure. Through my photography, I capture the tension between who we are and who we're told to be—offering not just my story, but a reflection of many women who are exhausted by the chase for approval and are slowly learning to reclaim their own beauty.
